Skyper

SKYPER is composed by a collection of digital images captured in 2015 during Skype conversations with friends and family members between Mexico and Europe. During these video calls, I awaited for the perfect instant to press “ctrl+ shift+3” to capture the surroundings where that person was at that moment. Was this action an intent to freeze that moment? to have an image of to look back at? to have a proof I was there?. Making screenshots from Skype conversations triggered some ideas and questions about simultaneity and the perception of space. Was I there? here? or in two places at the same time?. SKYPER was exhibited during the Rietveld Uncut “BOTS, BODIES, BEASTS The art of being humble” at the Brakke Grond in Amsterdam. The design of the poster and website of the festival was made by Johanna Ehde.
