We had the naive idea to camp in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and learn ancient Berber techniques to weave carpets.
The reality is that there’s barely any nomad Berber groups left. Instead, the weaving traditions in Morocco became a touristic attraction rather than a way of living.
Western brands like Adidas, Nike, Gucci and Louis Vuitton replaced traditional garments, and became very popular in everyday life. The men ware sport outfits of fake western brands. The women wear jellabas made out of bright synthetic materials in combination with headscarfs of luxurious brands. This social phenomenon inspired us to try both male and female dynamics in relation to garments and body language.
